Whistle-stop Tour Of The Story So Far

2015 Overly successful photography business - It was going really well - a bit too well - until I experienced burnout . 

2015 - 2018 I threw myself into the online world -  I could see the Internet offered this amazing opportunity to scale our businesses beyond our wildest dreams. I studied people who’d done well in the online world, especially entrepreneurs and people with massive drive.

2018 - I took to the stage - As a woman of 48, I wanted to be a shining example of how somebody can really make a difference by embracing new ways of doing business. It's never too late to make a change and it's never too early to make a start. My September 2018 Ted X talk was about embracing new ways of doing business, and questioning why more people aren’t doing it? Why aren’t they going into the online space, stabilizing their businesses and making the most of this opportunity to create online products, and reach more of those people they want to be helping?

End 2018 - Launched the Course Creation Accelerator program - I created this for people who have no idea where to start with this online world, but they really want to upscale their business in a way they didn't even have the opportunity to do just a matter of five, 10 and certainly 15 years ago.

2019 - Time to go big - Even while helping others to upscale, I was still playing small. I didn’t really believe I could do it, that I could actually create a global online business.  I knew I needed to invest in myself to be able to play bigger, so I booked a VIP ticket to the Impact Summit in the States.

And that’s how this podcast was born.

You Can Do Anything - I Have - Here’s How

So many of my online mentors were speaking there. The lineup was unbelievable: Rachel Hollis, James Wedmore, Amy Porterfield, Brendon Burchard.

And I had this overwhelming desire to be in that room. To be with those people who are going to tell me, ‘yes you can and this is how you do it’.

And that's exactly what happened. I had no idea what I was walking into, but it was a life-changing event.

Each new speaker shared their story about how they built these million dollar and multimillion dollar online businesses. And the overwhelming message that hit me was this is totally doable. It's totally doable. Anybody with a great idea, with a passion behind a transition they want to help other people with can do this.

Let me tell you, my business is nowhere near six figures yet. So in terms of where I'm starting from, I really am starting from zero.

I am starting this on June the 24th 2019, starting from ‘zero’ and I want to help as many people as possible, by building a $1 million online business. I'm going to be targeting a revenue of $1 million and ideally I want to do that in a year.

Every time I see that target I get this wave of nausea because that's a big, big goal.

But when I mentioned this at the conference, nobody told me I was insane. Nobody said: ‘Don't be ridiculous. You silly woman. That's just not going to happen.’

People were saying: ‘I've done it and so can you, so you best get started’.

And The Podcast Was Born

I love podcasts, I listen to them all the time, so it just made total sense for me to set up a podcast and I thought it'd be a great way to keep me accountable because now I feel that I'm not just doing this for me.

There was a chap that knew that I wanted to build $1 million online business, Adam Mitchell. He found me and said: ‘I've done this. You can do this and I'll support you anyway you can.’

And I'm very delighted to say that the next sentence that came out of my mouth was: ‘I'm going to start a podcast. Would you be my first guest?’ And he said, ‘yes’.

So in the next episode you're going to meet Adam and you're going to hear his story. He’s also going to join in the project by building a new $1 million dollar course. So that's really exciting, that I was able to inspire him as well, which was just awesome.

This podcast is me documenting my journey. Laughter, tears, and probably a lot of frustration. I'm expecting to fail on many levels. I know this isn't going to be easy.

Why Dollars, And Why One Million Of Them?

I’m English, and so far I've only really been targeting people in the UK on a very small basis and I've always been charging in pounds. But I want to have a global online business. I need to step into that mindset, so USD makes sense.

And it’s one million because it makes such a good story.

I would love to go into schools all over the country and share my story of building an online business, that it’s a very real thing and it's something that you too can achieve. I would love to give young people that real sense of it being a possibility.

I would love to be able to reach people who aren't even online yet. You know, maybe those who can’t afford to go online, that don't have computers, unemployed people, people with disabilities, people who don't even know that this is a potential option for them.

There is a book in me, I've always wanted to write a book. I've got several that I would love to write, but for me, to document this journey with a successful end would just be awesome.

But first I need to have my own success story, and $1,000,000 seems like a milestone that would get people’s attention.

What’s Coming Up

#1 People who already have multi-million dollar online businesses.

I don't have a high profile online (yet) but I'm doing as much as I can to reach out to those people I want to feature. They don’t know who I am, they can see that I don't have a following, but I'm hoping that enough of them are going to say,  ‘I like what you're doing and I'm going to come on and help you’. I think so many people who have built $1 million online businesses have come from a place of service, they wanted to create something that would really help others and take it to the next level.

And I haven't met a single person who hasn't been encouraging (including a big name I’ve interviewed for episode 4).

#2 People who want to build a $1 million online business.

I’ll also be interviewing people who have identified what their key thing is, what their number one product is, they're clear about their mission and their message and who they want to help and they are on this journey with me.

#3 Solo episodes from me.

I'm going to be teaching what I know and what I'm super passionate about, giving you some tools and guidance, and letting you know how it's going with me.

#4 Help and guidance from expert guests.

These people are specialists in their particular area and have something to contribute to our journey to help us get that million dollar online business.

It's going to be inspiring. It's going to be uplifting. And hopefully we're going to have an awful lot of fun on the way.

Get Extra Value, Training And Encouragement In The Community

I've created a Facebook group called the Million Dollar Online Business Collective. If you want to come on this journey with me, then go over there, ask to join the group.

Each week, after the podcast comes out, I want that discussion to carry on in the group.

People are funny about money. Talking about money can be perceived as vulgar. If I say to my friends ‘I'm going to create $1 million online business’, I'm going to be laughed out of the pub. So I’ve created a safe supportive place where we can say: I want to play big. I want to make a difference. I want to make an impact. You’re not going to be negatively judged. You are only going to receive encouragement and support, inspiration. You’ll be in a place with like-minded people.

I've made six videos in the group, one introduces it all and then there's five videos on the foundations you need in place in order to get yourself ready to start playing big and growing an online business. 

Even if your goal isn't to be hitting $1 million, whatever your goal is, whether it's $50,000, $100,000, $500,000, whatever it is, these five foundations are crucial:

1 - Decide and commit to whatever it is you want to achieve.

2 - Know your numbers. Once I got my head around the numbers and worked out a thousand people at $1,000 for a course, that's $1 million, I could see what was possible. 

3 - You need your one thing. Those who have done well all focused on one thing. It can be a signature course, a membership site, but whatever it is, you get the first one in place. You go all out to make sure that that's what you're known for. What are you going to be able to talk about non-stop? What do you feel really, really passionate about? My video in the Facebook group will help you identify you’re one thing.

4 - You need an audience. You’ll need to be more visible online. What does that look like for you? How are you going to be attracting those people you want to be helping? How are you going to make that connection?

5 - Resilience. If you want to achieve anything you need resilience. You need to be prepared for stuff not going your way. How are you going to dust yourself off and get up and start again? People who really make it in any walk of life, their drive is just incredible and it's so transferable into business as well. These people that have succeeded, they have shown resilience, they have shown drive.

If you're teetering on the edge of thinking, do I want to play big, I think those videos will really, really help you out.

There's no reason that I couldn't do this and that's been advice that I've received - why would you not be able to do this?

And I know I'm not alone in this. There's plenty of you thinking I’m totally capable of doing something better than I am already. And that’s what identifies the people who are going to succeed. When you get something inside you, there is a burning desire to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. It's when you get that white heat for it that you can’t stop. 

I will fall flat on my face. And I'm pretty sure there's going to be moments when I’m going to have to say:  I made this mistake and here's what I learned from it.

I would love to do it in a year. It might take me longer. I might do it in less than a year, who knows?
